Flood relief
Dear Footballers,

In light of the unprecedented flooding that has taken place across the country the Management Committee wishes to express its concern for all our citizens and hopes that our members, our staff and their families are safe and their property secure.

For the many families that have suffered loss and has been forced to leave their homes we are making an appeal to members for donations of non perishable items (see suggested list below).

These may be delivered to the Club’s administration office and will be distributed to the affected persons through Living Waters, as we did during the Hurricane Relief Drive.

Additionally there will be a collection point set up at the opening of the 8-a-Side Football Tournament on Saturday.

Your support for this most worthy initiative would be greatly appreciated.

  • Canned Food
  • Drinking Water
  • Pampers (adult & children)
  • Clothes
  • Mattresses
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Baby Formula & Cereal
  • Towels
  • Sheets
  • Dust Masks
  • Feminine supplies & personal hygiene items

We look forward to everyone's support in this endeavour.

Thanks and regards,
8-a-Side Committee

Saturday's kickoff

To all QPCC 8-a-Side players,

We are pleased to welcome you to the 2018 edition of the QPCC 8-a-Side Members Football Tournament!

Through the draft process 97% of players have been assigned to teams, but we have a select few new members and one or two hangers-on who still need to be assigned, and this will be done by Saturday's kickoff.  Captains are being contacted by their respective age division coordinators to make arrangements.  If you are on this email you are already on a team and should know where you're playing through the website.

Game Times

All fixtures have been posted to the website, and once you've submitted your email in your registration and are receiving this email, you should get emails 24hrs before each game.  But for clarity, the first round of games kicks off at 3:55pm.  Teamopolis also has a simple app that you can try out if you prefer to the website.

Uniform collection

Uniform distribution will be on Saturday as usual.  As mentioned previously we would like as many members as possible to pay in advance to avoid bottlenecks in the process.  Please be sure to walk with your receipt, as this is your "ticket" to getting the uniform.

Should you not be able to pay at the office, our cashiers will be up-and-running in the usual "coaches' window" by 12:30 on Saturday to facilitate.  But remember, this is a slower process and will be more time consuming.  Once payment is made you bring your receipt up to the designated collection area for your division.

Conduct of players

While we love the competitive spirit, before the first whistle is blown we wish to emphasize that this is a FUN tournament for the enjoyment of our members of all skill levels.  In recent years we have seen and heard of issues of poor sportsmanship and where applicable we have dealt with them through the committee.  This approach will continue, and even be stepped up as warranted.  We urge respect for your Club, your fellow members and our referees at all times.

We look forward to an enjoyable tournament for all!

Regards,
8-a-Side Committee

Please be advised that this year's rescheduled team draft will take place on Friday 28th September.  We plan to get things going at 7pm.  All captains and sponsors are asked to meet in the Pavilion, from where we will split off into age groups to go through the picking process - Lounge, Ballroom, President's Box.

There will be a free welcome drink from 6pm to the first 100 persons, plus drink specials all night long, so plan accordingly and arrange responsibly for your drop home.

See you on Friday!

8-a-Side date change

Dear Footballers,

As you may be aware we have had to unexpectedly adjust the dates for our annual 8-a-Side Tournament.  Initially planned for a September 15th kickoff our opener will now take place on October 27th culminating in the final night of November 30th.

This decision was taken in light of the recent approach by Cricket West Indies to host this year's regional Super 50 tournament.  The cricket will provide the Club with much-needed revenue from ground rental, as well as reinforce our relationship with Cricket West Indies and the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board.

It should be noted as well that the Super 50 competition was moved from it's usual place in the calendar, January, to facilitate player selection for next year's Cricket World Cup.  We expect strong crowd turnouts as all the star players from throughout the region will be on show as their performances will determine their selection.  We do not expect this tournament to impact the timing of future 8-a-Side Tournaments until possibly the next CWC.

Lastly, we wish to point out that in light of the foregoing we have taken the decision (i) to reopen registration, and (ii) that the late registration fee will be waived.

We urge all non-registered players to register ASAP using the following link: http://www.qpcc.com/members.asp

Please direct any questions to the 8-a-Side Committee at 8aside@qpcc.com

Thanks and regards,

8-a-Side 2018

Dear Member,

We are pleased to announce that we have agreed a longer tournament window with the support of the Grounds Committee and Management Committee.  We are now planning for a full 6-week tournament (inclusive of the Corporate edition).  This will allow for two game days per week for all divisions, reducing the physical burden on players.

With our initial 8-a-side registration deadline now behind us, we are still short of members signed on to play.  Our deadline for ordering uniforms is July 27th and we must have full numbers in by then so that we order enough kits.  We have therefore established an extension to Wednesday, July 25th to get all players registered. Please note the following:

  • Players registering between our initial deadline of July 15th and July 25th will be subject to the $100 late registration fee.
  • Players failing to register by July 25th will be allowed to play based solely on uniform availability and will be subject to the same $100 late fee.

We must impress the importance of these deadlines to ensuring timely receipt of uniforms, coordinating printing and avoiding the distribution issues of years gone by.  Please pass on this email to members in your circle who may not yet have registered.

8-a-Side Registration - Time is running out!

Dear Member,

The Club's 8-a-Side Football Committee has commenced registration for the annual QPCC 8-a-Side Football Tournament. This year’s tournament is scheduled to start on Saturday 8th September 2018.

TO REGISTER: Members can log on to www.qpcc.com, select the Sports menu - Football - Members Registration or: http://www.qpcc.com/members.asp.  The website also includes rules, waivers, fixtures, results etc. The deadline for registration isSunday 15th. July 2018.  This date facilitates the timely procurement of uniforms, team selection and the overall organisation of the tournament.

The Committee takes this opportunity to highlight the following requirements:

1.    All registrations must be completed online -

Online registration is compulsory for all members (inclusive of players 56  & over).  Registration via this medium allows for effective database management, communication and most importantly eliminates duplication and erroneous registrants.  The site is user-friendly and provides a "Comments" box to specify team preferences.  Anyone requiring assistance in registering online should contact the office.

2. Rule 2.4 -  All players must register before the specified  registration deadline: (Sunday, July 15th. 2018)

Late registrations will be at the sole discretion of the 8-a-Side Football Committee and will incur a late fee of: $100.00. If permitted, the late registrant will forgo the opening day and possible league fixtures. Furthermore, team assignment remains the responsibility of the 8-a-side Football Committee and a player cannot select his team, regardless of work, family or other relationships. The Committee will exercise its discretion in allocation of late registrants in a manner that is free from bias. Teams will be deducted, at a minimum, all points awarded in games featuring an unregistered player.

The Committee also recommends that all players refer to the rules to avoid any misunderstanding or contention.

Looking forward to an enjoyable tournament.

QPCC meets Ball Park

Gents,

We are reaching out to you once again as we've only received responses from two teams - Smirnoff and Sticky Bones - both being positive.  But we can't do this unless we've got a critical mass of teams.

Kindly confirm by replying to this email whether your team will be able to participate in the tournament as previously suggested.

Final night update

Dear All,

Tomorrow, Friday 20th October, will mark the final night of 2018 QPCC 8-a-Side Football Tournament.  We wish to just drop a couple reminders:

  • Field conditions - The field conditions have been very adversely affected by the weather this year and we continue to urge players and spectators to respect the wishes of the Grounds Committee and remain on the berms or gravel encircling our outfield.  We ask for your cooperation with 8-a-Side Committee members and security personnel where requests are made of exuberant supporters.
  • Timing - The timing of events is critical as we would like the prize-giving ceremony to come off in a timely manner.  Please play your part in allowing games to run in a timely manner.
  • Referees - We have observed and received reports in the last two game nights of the escalating manner in which players deal with referees.  As the competition heats up and we get closer to the last whistle it's natural that emotions intensify.  Please remember that this is a FUN tournament, and that our referees are typically doing 7 straight games in a single night.  Please treat all referees and your fellow members with an appropriate level of respect.

We look forward to a very exciting night as the final positions of each division get settled.

See you tomorrow!

Final week for 2017
Dear 8-a-Side Footballers,

Following the excitement of Saturday's Hurricane Relief T20 match, we are pleased to see the resumption of 8-a-Side Football.  Games this week will be on Tuesday, the eve of Divali celebrations, and the final night for this year's tournament (along with the prize-giving ceremony) will be Friday 20th.  We expect bumper crowds and stiff on-field competition on both nights as our 35 & Under, 36 to 45, and 46 to 55 age groups are still wide open with only two rounds of games remaining.

As usual, games kick off at 5:30 and will run up to about 9:30.  There will be lots to eat and drink on sale, so come out and enjoy the atmosphere that can only be found in QPCC 8-a-Side Football!

Regards,
8-a-Side Committee

Final night and field conditions

Dear Footballers,

Final night

We have been getting questions concerning the final night and/or the number of games for each division.

We wish to confirm that the final night of the tournament will be Tuesday 17th October, the night before the midweek Divali holiday.  We feel this is well positioned to have the best possible player/spectator turnout, while also supporting necessary outfield prep for the T20 (WI Select XI vs T&T Red Force) scheduled for 14th October, which will raise funds for our Dominican neighbours.

We wish to clarify further that the final night's fixtures will be circulated closer to the final night.  This departure from the norm is designed to ensure that critical final night fixtures are scheduled so as to maximize the entertainment factor and to ensure the evening's competitiveness.

Field conditions

As the rains continue, we are taking various steps to preserve our outfield, and thank all for their assistance and cooperation thus far.  Without a field we have no football.  We continue to watch the weather and field conditions very carefully and advise that there will be no play either on the fields or unmarked "warmup" areas if there is persistent rain or standing water on the outfield.  Makeup games will be scheduled accordingly to ensure a balanced tournament and the enjoyment of all.

We will continue to keep you abreast of matters as and when there are developments.

Best regards,
8-a-Side Committee

Grounds usage and spectators
Dear Players,

Based on your feedback, we are taking steps to strike a compromise to ensure the integrity of our outfield, while still engaging our 8 a side patrons and supporters. Bearing in mind that first class regional cricket matches will be played in the first week of November and the club is being closely monitored by the ICC, we must take no chances. We propose the following as an addendum to our last notice concerning the outfield:

Berm Clearing
We are taking steps to clear the berms, particularly along the Trini Posse stand, to make these areas more attractive and welcoming  for the viewing of the  8-a-Side games.

Youth Play
Given the blessing of our main groundsman, we will allow the many children on hand to play on the areas off the assigned fields as has been the norm in previous years.  We have been advised  that it is unlikely their activity will cause significant harm to the field.  We however would like to limit their play on the marked fields in between games.

We also wish to impress upon everyone our “no litter” policy, especially as it applies on the playing surfaces.  This includes empty bottles, bottle caps and cigarette butts.  This is consistent with all major grounds around the world and is meant to ensure player and patron safety, as well as protection of the playing surface.

Lastly, we take this opportunity to advise that the downstairs bar will revert to a cash service as has been the norm in years prior.

We thank you for your understanding.  All actions are being taken with the best interests of our beloved Club, the members and the 8 a side Tournament.

Dr. Nigel Camacho
Acting Honorary Secretary

8-a-Side Registration 2017

Dear Queen's Park Footballers,

It's that time of year again - 8-a-Side Football registration is open and football is just a couple months away!  This year’s tournament is scheduled from Saturday 16th September to Wednesday 18th October 2017.  As usual, players will compete in the following divisions with age being determined on the opening day of the tournament.

35 & Under
36 - 45
46 - 55
56 & Over
Ladies

To Register:
Members can log on to www.qpcc.com, select the Sports menu -> Football -> Members Registration or http://www.qpcc.com/members.asp.  The website also includes rules, waivers, fixtures, results etc. The deadline for registration is Friday 28th July 2017.

This deadline is based on a very tight timeline that ensures uniforms are procured, printed and delivered on time.  We rely on our members' adherence to the registration guidelines to ensure everyone is assigned to a team and suitably outfitted on our opening day.

The Committee takes this opportunity to highlight the following requirements:

1.    All registrations must be completed online.
Online registration is compulsory for all members (inclusive of players 56  & over).  Registration via this medium allows for effective database management, communication and most importantly   eliminates duplication and erroneous registrants.  The site is user-friendly and provides a "Comments" box to specify team preferences.  Anyone requiring assistance in registering online can contact the office.

2. Rule 2.4 - All players must register before the specified  registration deadline (Friday, July 28th, 2017)
Late registrations will be at the sole discretion of the 8-a-Side Football Committee.  If permitted, the late registrant will forgo the opening day and some league fixtures.

We also encourage our members to indicate in the comments section any special requirements, gameday availability constraints or injury concerns to ensure selection is done on an informed basis.

The Committee also recommends that all players refer to the rules to avoid any misunderstanding or contention.

We look forward to an exciting tournament, including a few new twists to keep things exciting!  See you there!

Final night

Dear 8-a-Side Footballers,

We wish to highlight the following information relevant to the final night of football in the 2016 8-a-Side Tournament.

Player attire

We continue to note that despite our pleas, we continue to see players taking the field without the appropriate team kit.  This we remind players is disrespectful to the tournament’s sponsors and a practice we intend to stop.  We will aim to have 100% compliance with team uniforms for the final night of play.  Any players who cannot meet this requirement should speak with members of the tournament committee prior to kick off.

Spirit of the Tournament

The Tournament Committee has taken the decision to rebrand the coveted Best Liming Side award to a “Spirit of the Tournament” award.  The emphasis extends to aspects of the tournament that include on-field conduct, respect for the referees, uniform conformity, gamesmanship, etc. and will be decided by divisional team captains through a poll conducted by the committee on the final night.

MVP

We have also taken the decision to use a similar polling approach to determine each division’s MVP.  We will provide a shortlist from which team captains will select one, with the most votes winning the award.

Prize Giving

As usual our prize giving ceremony will begin shortly after the final round of games.   The tabulation process takes a little time and, while we try to expedite, we ask those receiving awards to make their way to the stage in a timely fashion, to ensure every awardee has time to enjoy their moment.  The committee will be working diligently to move the process along quickly and we ask your kind assistance.

DJ

We have hired the services of a DJ for the closing night to add to the atmosphere, but in particular to help with the prize giving ceremony.  We are aware that some of the “party stands” intend to bring their own music for the final night, but ask that they either switch off or maintain a minimal volume until the prize giving is over, in order to be respectful to all the night’s victors.

In closing we wish to thank the players, officials, grounds committee, Club Management, sponsors, and in particular our tournament sponsor, C&W Business Solutions.  We wish all our players the best of luck on our final night!

Best regards,
8-a-Side Committee

Game attire

Dear Footballers,

We've been noticing the alarming frequency with which players are turning up for games without their assigned uniforms.  Our football tournament is not possible without the financial support of our sponsors, and among the benefits they enjoy is the on-field presence and visibility of their brands.

We therefore wish to remind you that everyone taking the field will be required to do so in their official team uniform.  The Tournament Committee reserves the right to revoke any player's participation should they not be dressed in the appropriate attire.

Sincerely,
8-a-Side Committee

Tournament news

Dear All,

Thank you for your participation in the first day of this year's tournament.  The tournament committee wish to sincerely thank all those who came out and showed tolerance and a positive attitude through the difficulties we faced.  We apologize for the problems, and wish to explain the circumstances and plans going forward.

Weather
Our first challenge came in the form of the weather, which saw heavy rains for an extended period after lunch. With games due to kick off at 5pm, we did field inspections with the Club's grounds committee and decided that the western field was unfit for play, forcing us to fit all the day's games onto two fields, with slightly shortened game times.  Fortunately we still managed to play all scheduled games.

Uniforms
Uniforms also ended up being an issue as our printer struggled with labour issues throughout the week, and then a power outage on Saturday.  Many teams received their kits just prior to taking the field, and some even played without uniforms.  Once again, we apologize for the difficulties and wish to thank the players and sponsors for their understanding of the trying circumstances.

Tournament change
With an upcoming regional cricket tournament to be played in November and the current condition of the ground, the grounds committee and Club Management have decided that it is in the Club's best interest to shorten the tournament and allow the ground more time to recover and for remedial works.  Managing a 5 week tournament mandates that we play three match nights (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) for the last two weeks.  The fixtures are presently being amended in Teamopolis and you will get email notifications of the changes.  We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause you and hope that you can manage your schedules to avoid missing any games.

We thank you for your support to this point and wish you an enjoyable tournament.

Best regards,
8-a-Side Committee

8-a-Side Kickoff

Dear All,

We hope you're ready for action because it all starts at The Oval tomorrow!

Everyone should have received information from Teamopolis indicating their team, and through the site you have all the information on your fixtures, teammates, etc.  Our first game kicks off at 4:55pm, but our committee will be at The Oval distributing uniforms from 11:00am.  As mentioned previously, please try to coordinate through your captain to collect your team's uniforms en masse, for your own convenience and to minimize any congestion and delays.

As usual, we encourage teams to bring their grills, crackers and pots to add to the enjoyment.  Additionally, there will be Full House providing burgers, hot dogs and fries, Captain's Doubles, tonnes of grilled delicacies from John Lum Kin of CookKin Vibez.

For the young ones, we will again have a bouncy castle and have added face painting for extra fun.

This year we are working on better managing our field, including the grass berm.  We are therefore mandating that absolutely no vehicles are to drive on the grass, including the berm in front of the Carib and Jeffrey Stollmeyer stands.  This includes drop-offs of coolers, grills and other heavy items.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday and exceeding your tournament expectations for the next 6 weeks.

Regards,
8-a-Side Committee

QPCC Youth Football Tournament

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2016 edition of the annual QPCC Youth Football Tournament.

The Tournament kicks off on Monday 12th of September at the Oval.  You should have received an email yesterday from Teamopolis for your child with their team name etc.  Teamopolis is the host website for our tournament and your source for details of game times and other relevant tournament information.

The tournament runs for 3 weeks (Mondays and Thursdays) starting at 4.30pm at the Oval.

We expect to have all uniforms ready for distribution by Saturday 10th September, beginning at 11:00am.  The tournament registration fee is $200 per footballer and payment can be made at the Club’s office on weekdays between 8:00 and 4:30.  Uniforms will only be distributed upon presentation of your receipt.

We will confirm distribution details once we have feedback from the printers on completion of the printing process and availability of the kits.

Where your child also trains in the QPCC Academy, his/her tournament fee will be added to their Academy fees for a single payment.  These details have already been communicated via the Academy administration.

We look forward to your child’s active participation and the enjoyment of the three weeks ahead.

Best regards,

Welcome!

Dear All,

We wish to welcome both new and returning members to the 2016 edition of the Queen's Park Cricket Club's annual 8-a-Side Football Tournament.  This year we celebrate the Club's 125th anniversary and we look forward to an exciting and fun-filled time for you, your teammates and your families.

You should have by now received an email inviting you to log in to the Tournament website and indicating the team that you've been picked to play with.  We also uploaded the fixtures a couple hours ago and you will note a significant change in that each team is only scheduled to play one game on the opening Saturday (10th).  There will be no opening day / knockout tournament, and Saturday will serve as your first day of league competition.  The first round of games will kick off at 4:55 allowing for more enjoyable playing conditions and less player attrition.  As usual, there will be lots of food and drink available for sale, music to add to the mood, and many fun activities for the younger ones.  We encourage teams to bring their families, cook a pot and lime the evening away!

The change in format also affords a wider window for collection of uniforms, as we encourage all captains to take the lead and make a single payment for their team's uniforms, and collect as a single batch.  This can be done through the Club's office, or on Saturday.  Note that we will have persons available to distribute kits from as early as 11am, but you must walk with your receipt, as proof of payment.

We will continue to communicate and keep you up to date with plans.  Until then, get yourselves ready for the action!

Adjustment to schedule

Dear All,

As you all know, our national team will meet up with Nicaragua in the Hasley Crawford Stadium on Tuesday night as they vie for a qualifying berth in the 2018 World Cup Finals in Russia.  After consultation with members of Club Management, as the nation's largest sporting club it is most appropriate that we show support to the team's efforts.  As such, we have taken the decision to reschedule all our Tuesday games to Wednesday.

We do recognize that this may have an impact on individuals' plans, and we do regret the inconvenience.

The fixtures will be amended in Teamopolis during the course of the day and you should get automatic updates in your inbox.

We look forward to seeing Club members out in their numbers at the Stadium as we collectively become "the 12th man".

Regards,

8-a-Side Committee

Youth Tournament update

Dear Parents,

First of all, on behalf of the QPCC Youth 8 a side tournament committee, we would like to thank you for your patience and cooperation in yesterday’s tournament.  We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced, and we assure you that our problems have been resolved and Monday will be a fantastic experience.  Without your understanding and patience this day could have been a lot harder, but eventually all was ironed out and ran smoothly. We sincerely thank you and appreciate your continued support for these boys and their development.

Yesterday was the fault of 2 major problems: uniform supply and last minute entries.  Two problems which we will take blame for and can assure you will not happen again.

The uniform supplier really let us down and the mistakes made by them made for a huge mess, as team names were switched as so were colours, etc.  This creates a lot of confusion, as the name changes create scheduling conflicts and a lot of confusion with players and team identity.  That being said, below you will find the names of every team in the tournament and the colour of their uniforms.  Kindly ignore all previous communication and let this be your guide as well as any updates from Teamopolis

Last-minute registration is something we really need to eliminate, as these registrants cause major backups and are unfair to the parents that actively follow requests and register early.  We must take the blame for this, as we allowed for it to happen in the best interest of our members and Academy players.  That being said, we will make major changes to the registration, payment and uniform collection next year, so we hope that you all will be on board with these changes as we seek everyone’s best interest.

Following this we will like to also ask that you refer to the two maps below for your guide to field location.  Please note hat the first map below is for Y1, Y2 &Y3 players and the second map is for Y4 & Y5 players. We understand that field identification can be confusing, so this should be a huge help with the flow of events.

As mentioned and seen above in the team name lists above, we have also named the age groupings as follows:

Y1 – ages 5-6yrs

Y2 – ages 7-8yrs

Y3 – ages 9-10yrs

Y4 – ages 11-12yrs

Y5 – ages 13-15yrs

When announcements are being made, please be sure to listen for the age group, team and field.

In conclusion, we have taken a decision to give the players back the opening day by adding on an extra day at the end of the tournament. This is to ensure that they truly get the full and deserved experience.  At the end of it all, the purpose of the tournament is to allow these boys and girls to play the game we all love in a safe and healthy environment.  This tournament is designed to develop the player, but most of all to have them play the game and have fun!  As you would notice the coaches are very passive, as we use this time to allow the players to express themselves and truly play in a relaxed environment; we are asking that parents join us in the passive and encouraging tone. This is a crucial part of the development process, so let’s sit back and enjoy watching our children be footballers

Best regards,

QPCC Youth Academy

Youth Football kicks off!

Dear Parents / Youth Players,

There have been lots of questions coming in as we've been hurriedly putting things in place for tomorrow's kickoff.  We know you are all holding your breaths with anticipation, anxious to get on the field.

By now you should have received the website invitation and been able to log on, see what team you're on and check out your match schedule for the duration of the tournament.  Do keep the following link handy so that you can get all the information necessary and stay up to date:

www.qpcc2011.teamopolis.com

Some points regarding tomorrow's plans:

  • The first round of games is scheduled for 4:30pm
  • Uniform distribution will begin at 3:30pm.  We recommend a timely arrival at the Oval.
  • Participation fees ($200) must be in order to get your uniform. Payment can be made either at the time of uniform collection tomorrow afternoon, or at the Oval's office during the day.  We recommend the latter for your own personal convenience as this will help simplify your process tomorrow afternoon.  If you do pay (have paid) in advance, make sure to have your receipt on had as proof of payment.
  • Coaches and a small committee of volunteer parents will be on hand to help coordinate the process.

We wish you all an enjoyable tournament and look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Uniform collection

Dear All,

For those who did not come out to collect uniforms last Saturday, we must highlight the importance of you making payment at the office prior to Wednesday's games, as we are encountering difficulties resourcing the cash collection process.  You are then required to bring your receipt to the uniform distribution centre as proof of payment.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Opening day tournament

Dear All,

Thank you for coming out and contributing to a fun-filled Tournament kickoff.  Congratulations to winners Red Stripe (35 & Under) and 5 Islands Amusement Park (36 to 45).  Unfortunately the power issue brought the day's football to a premature end while the 46 to 55 age group was underway.  Nevertheless, spirits remained high and the liming continued well into the wee hours.

The Committee also wishes to thank all the sponsors, especially title sponsor C&W Business Solutions for making this event possible; and Red Stripe for the generous donation of cold cases of beer to all teams yesterday.  We can expect more exciting things from our sponsors in the coming weeks.

??Fixtures
Please be advised that the tournament fixtures have been released and can be found at qpcc2011.teamopolis.com .  Please note that the 56 & Over teams will not be playing until Friday evening.

We look forward to six weeks of fun and camaraderie that have become so characteristic of the Tournament.

Best of luck to all,

8-a-Side Registration - Time is running out!

Dear 8-a-Side Footballers,

This is a reminder call to get your act together and register for this year's 8-a-Side Football Tournament.  As you know, the tournament kicks off on Saturday 5th September and the registration deadline is 10th August.

We wish to bring to your attention some changes to the tournament this year:

  1. After careful consideration we advise that members will only be permitted to play in one (1) age group during the tournament. The option to play “down” an age group as well as in your actual age group is no longer available. This change will allow for a fair distribution of playing time for all participating members.
  2. The registration fee will be Four Hundred Dollars ($400.00) for members wishing to register after the well-publicised deadline date of August 10th.  Late registration leads to complexity and costs in uniform sourcing and printing as well as numerous operational difficulties for the Tournament Committee, which we seek to avoid at all costs.

We thank you for your continued support and your timely registration.

Youth Football tomorrow!
Dear Parents,

This is a final reminder for tomorrow and to help clarify the erroneous setup of Monday's fixtures for Tuesday.  There are no games scheduled for Tuesday.  On Monday we will distribute uniforms prior to play.  The first round of games will kick off at 4:15 (you should have received notifications from Teamopolis) and we recommend parents get to the Oval around 3:30 to facilitate payment and collection of uniforms.

Fees are $150 for members of the Football Academy and $200 for non-Academy kids.  There will be a Linx machine to facilitate card transactions, but for a speedy process cash would be best.  Please try to walk with exact change to help expedite things.

We're as excited as the kids for tomorrow and are looking forward to seeing a good turnout.

8-a-Side Football 2014

Dear Members,

We are excited to kick off the 2014 edition of the QPCC 8-a-Side Football Tournament at The Oval on Saturday 13th September, with the first game being played at 10:00am.  We’d like to beg your indulgence to share with you of a few of the standing arrangements.

Fixtures

All fixtures for the opening day have been loaded on the Teamopolis website (www.qpcc2011.teamopolis.com) and can be accessed by all registered players.  The first day of tournament play will be Wednesday 17th September.  Detailed fixtures will be loaded on the site by Friday 12th September.  The site will send you automatic emails 24hrs ahead of scheduled games, so look out for the Teamopolis mails in your mailbox.  Teamopolis also offers a free app for your smartphone that will allow for speedy access to your team’s information.

Uniform Distribution

Uniform distribution can sometimes be a choking point and we really want to streamline both the cash collection and actual distribution.  Last year we saw a significant improvement and will follow the system used then.  The process below will be in place:

  • Participation fees are as follows:  Groups 35 & Under, 36 – 45 and 46 – 55 all pay $300 per player; 56 & Over players will pay $250.  Players registered to play in two divisions will play separate fees for each.  Payment can be made by either cash or card through either of the two cashiers operating from the East Coach’s Room.  Payments will be collected and receipts issued.
  • Once the financial matters have been settled, your uniform may be collected from the uniform distribution point designated for your age group, which will be located in the Pavilion area.

The collection of fees and distribution of uniforms will begin at 9:am.  We recommend, as usual, that captains pay for teams “en masse” to minimize congestion at the cash points. We cannot stress this point enough.

Note that we have cross-referenced our registrants with our Club financial records and will not permit any members not in good financial standing to collect uniforms.  The present list shows forty-eight (48) such members who will experience difficulty and we encourage you to regularize your affairs in the office on Saturday morning before coming to collect your uniform.

Finally, no uniform will be distributed unless there is evidence of payment of these fees and any outstanding amounts.

Security Arrangements

In an effort to keep our membership and their families safe, we continue to keep a strong emphasis on security.

Parking – As usual, we will facilitate parking in our main Elizabeth Street car park, the empty lot across from our Elizabeth Street entrance, Illuminat car park (Tragarete Road) and through our Tragarete Road entrance.  Admission at these locations is subject to space availability and reserved for Club members only.

Pedestrian access will be facilitated only through the Elizabeth Street entrance.

Access to non-members is being watched very closely as this is our primary source of issues.  Non-members will not be granted access unless accompanied by a member.  This applies to adults as well as minors.  Furthermore, the practice of dropping off teens to lime will not be allowed and they will also require a member custodian to gain entry.

Food / Entertainment

As usual there will be a lot of entertainment for the children commencing at midday, including a dunk tank, face painting, tattoos and a chillout area and Dino Park for the little ones.  We will also have a wide selection of food available including Hot Dog Haven, Captain’s Doubles, burgers, BBQ, pies and an assortment of other food items.

We look forward to seeing you there and look forward to a fun-filled day for all!

Regards,

8-a-Side Committee

8-a-Side 2014 registration

Calling all footballers!!!

The dates for the 2014 QPCC 8-a-Side Football Tournament have been set, so cancel your flights, buy your Bengay and advise your families - you are officially on release from all duties outside of football from September 13th to October 22nd.

Registration is open, so get cracking!

TO REGISTER:  Club members should go to www.QPCC.com, Select the Sports menu - football - members registration orhttp://www.qpcc.com/members.asp.  The deadline for registration is August 15th, 2014.  This date is vital to the timely procurement of uniforms, team selection and the overall order and organization of the Tournament.

We would also like to draw to your attention to a couple points:

1.       All registration must take place online.
It is mandatory that all members (inclusive of the 56 & Over players) register online.  This aids in many areas including uniform procurement, database management, communication, administrative efficiency and most importantly to reduce errant registrants.  The process is user-friendly and quick.
Special note for 56 & Over players:  Online registration is mandatory and the Comments box can be used to specify team preferences.  Anyone wishing further assistance please contact the office so they can register you.

2.       Rule 2.4 - All players must register before specified registration deadline (August 15th, 2014)
Any player registering after the teams have been picked, will be allowed to play at the discretion of the Committee.  If the player is approved for participation, the player will forfeit the opening day and possible league games, at the discretion of the Committee.
Furthermore, team assignment will be at the sole discretion of the Committee to, as far as possible, ensure fair play and equitable distribution of all late registrants.  The player cannot select the side he will play on, regardless of work, family or other relationships.  Any team featuring a player not registered will be docked at a minimum any games in which the player participated.

We also recommend that all players consult the rules, also on the QPCC website, to avoid confusion on contentious issues.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you out there,

QPCC 8-a-Side Committee

Closing of Youth Tournament
Dear All,

Tomorrow, Wednesday 18th September, will mark the close of Queen's Park's 2013 Youth Football Tournament.  While the weather has sometimes led to delays, we do want to say thank you to all for coming out and participating.

For the most part, the spirit of the Tournament has been maintained which, simply put, is fun for all involved.  While there have been disappointments and tears along the way, we believe this is all part of the character building that all sporting endeavours embody.

Regrettably, there have been complaints from some parents of the amount of game time being allocated to children of differing footballing abilities.  We wish to request that on this last day, parent-coaches make an effort to rotate players in an equitable manner.  If there are one or two stars that have played full games throughout, consider giving them only one half in one of their games.  For players who have not enjoyed a full game or even full halves, please provide them a fair opportunity on the final day.  We recognize the efforts of our volunteer "coaches" and thank you for stepping up to the plate to perform this duty that often goes without thanks.

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday and hope you stick around for the medal distribution and photo ops.  Beyond Wednesday, we look forward to seeing the many players who have signed up for our Youth Academy on Monday 23rd.

Best regards,
8-a-Side Committee

Opening Day
Dear All,

The 8-a-Side Committee wishes to thank all participants, families and friends for coming out on Saturday to make our 2013 Opening Day a success!  With blistering sun the order of the day, it was very taxing for a lot of our players, but apart from some delays to games, things went according to plan and we were free of any major injuries or incidents.

We take pleasure in announcing the day's winners:
35 & Under - Fantasy
36 to 45 - Advertising Impact (default)
46 to 55 - Nissan / GFC (shared)

This year we aimed to capture video of as many teams as possible.  Keen followers on the site will notice that highlights of some of these games have already been uploaded (click on Videos in menu on left side of the homepage).  As editing continues, more games will be loaded so lookout for your team in action!

See you on Tuesday!

8-a-Side 2013 Kickoff!

Dear Members,

We are excited to kick off this year’s QPCC 8-a-Side Football Tournament at The Oval tomorrow, Saturday 7th September.  This year we’ve made a few changes that we thought it prudent to inform you about, as well as to remind you of a few of the standing arrangements.

Uniform Distribution

Uniform distribution can sometimes be a choking point and we really want to streamline both the cash collection and actual distribution.  The process below will be in place:

  • There are no changes from last year’s participation fee.  Groups 35 & Under, 36 – 45 and 46 – 55 all pay $250 per player; 56 & Over pays $200.  Payment may be made in either of the following ways:
    • Cash/card – We will have two cashiers operating from the East Coach’s Room.  Payments will be collected and receipts issued.
    • Bar account – The established uniform distribution points (see below) will have forms which you may sign to authorize the charge going directly to your bar account.
  • Once the financial matters have been settled, your uniform may be collected from the uniform distribution point designated for your age group, which will be located in the Pavilion area.

The collection of fees and distribution of uniforms will begin at 9:15am.  We recommend, as usual, that captains pay for teams “en masse” to minimize congestion at the cash points.

Note that we have cross-referenced our registrants with our Club financial records and will not be permitting any members not in good financial standing to collect uniforms.  The present list shows sixty (60) such members who will experience difficulty and we encourage you to regularize your affairs in the office on Saturday morning before coming to collect your uniform.

Finally, no uniform will be distributed unless there is evidence of payment of these fees and any outstanding amounts.

Security Arrangements

In an effort to keep our membership and their families safe, we have made some changes to security arrangements this year.

As usual there will be a lot of entertainment for the children including the famous bouncy castle.  We also will have a wide selection of food available including Hot Dog Haven, Captain’s Doubles, gyros, pies and an assortment of other food items.

We look forward to seeing you there and look forward to a fun-filled day for all!

Regards,

8-a-Side Committee
